Good old Apple. Brought back from the brink of failure by tech luminary and leadership legend Steve Jobs. Huge innovator in the tech space over the last ten years. Almost fetish-like attachment to solid white, black, and polished aluminum surfaces. We all know the facts about Apple. And up until relatively recently, one of the facts about Apple was that their operating system was impervious to the tampering of hackers. While PC owners scratched their heads at strange software lockups and troubleshot in online forums, Mac users sat serenely in coffee shops with their brushed aluminum machines somehow bulletproof from cyber-attacks.
Apple’s Recent Announcement
It turns out that Apple has turned many hackers into William Tells. The success of the Apple brand has made it a juicy target for those who take pride and enjoyment from disrupting the status quo. Apple recently announced that up to 20% of all Apple computers had been infected with some form of malware. This news came as a shock to many consumers. Apple has since released a quick fix which removes the malware from their computers. But this isn’t the only way that hackers may try to spoil Apple’s success. Some aftermarket chargers have also been found to be equipped with viruses which infect Apple computers or mobile devices when they are plugged in. Although the official Apple chargers cost more money than generic equivalents, the threat of virus issues may cause many bargain seekers to think twice before going with the cheap option.
