You don’t have to be a “fashionista” to enjoy this exhibit. “Punk: Chaos to Couture”, a new exhibit at New York City’s, Metropolitan Museum of Art, is entertaining, edgy, and unique. Each aspect of the exhibit, the manikins, the walls, the lighting, and the layout, is a work art, allowing the audience to fully capture the essence of Punk-Rock culture.
As I walked through the exhibit I felt as if I were walking through an actual fashion show, back in time during the Punk Era. I found this particular exhibit to be more of an experience, rather than the typical, observational, relationship that goes on in a museum setting. Each outfit was a work of art, worn by an icon of the time, as well as designed by some of the most well known designers of today: Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Yves Saint Laurent.
You will find yourself amazed, perplexed, and astonished at the intricate and funky designs of each piece. Whether you are, or are not, a fan of the Ramones, The Clash, or the Sex Pistols, I highly suggest checking out this exhibit, it may surprise you, as I was.
